Day 10 – Take a Day Off | 31 Day Stress Reduction Challenge

31 Day Stress Reduction ChallengeAs a personal challenge, I have decided to embark on a 31-day challenge to lower my stress level, and make staying at home not so overwhelming. Each day, I will focus on one area of my life that can be cleaned up or addressed to help make my life just a teensy bit easier – and less stressful.

I know as a work-from-home mom that taking a day off is kind of a joke. There is absolutely no way you can really take time off from your main job. I also know that taking a vacation away from your family is not in the cards for most people (including myself).

But you can remove some of the responsibilities from one day. There is always laundry to do, dishes to wash, and work to do. But have you ever just spent the day playing with your kids? Or took a nap while your little ones napped?

Just for one day, take a vacation day from work. Put an out of office reply on your email, turn off your cell phone, and put away the computer. Instead of using nap time as work or housework time, just take a nap. When the kids are awake, just play with them. Make lunch together, paint, go for a walk, and just be mommy for a day.

Leave the dishes in the sink, rinse them off and deal with them tomorrow. The laundry can wait, and the living room does not need to be vacuumed. The toys can be put away tomorrow. Just spend one solid day playing and having fun. I don’t remember the last time I played with my daughter without trying to juggle housework or answer emails.

You will be surprised how much less stressful the day can be if you know that you have nothing to do but relax and play with your kids. You might even make it a regular thing.

Til Tomorrow!

    1. I feel you, I just seem to keep adding more to my plate instead of slowing down.

  1. This sounds like an awesome idea! I just may have to do it. I like the idea of no dishes and no laundry for a day!

    1. It is actually pretty freeing, but it made me a little neurotic. I feel like I am wasting time not doing anything, but I know my kids love having mommy all to themselves.

    1. When I am pregnant, I definitely take advantage of the naps, it is harder to do when I really have no excuse. Good for you!

  2. Naps used to be party of my daily routine-and I loved it! Lately, I’ve just been getting distracted with everything going on.I should try to add it back in again.
