The Jalapeno Margarita is a fresh twist with a little bit of sweet, sour, salty and spicy. You can quadruple the recipe to make a pitcher of margaritas, this recipe is for one margarita. If you like a little sweeter margarita, you can increase the agave nectar to 1 oz and the orange liquor to 1 oz.
Prep time – 5 minutes
- 2 oz Silver Tequila (Jose Cuervo Tradicional Silver)
- 1/2 oz Orange Liqueur (Triple Sec, Grand Marnier or Cointreau)
- 1/2 oz Agave Nectar (Herraduras makes a great light agave nectar)
- 2 limes
- 1/2 Jalapeno (sliced lengthwise)
- Margarita Salt
In a cocktail shaker, add the tequila, orange liqueur, and agave nectar. Squeeze the two limes into the shaker. Take one of the squeezed limes and run the pulp along the top of a highball glass. Turn the glass upside down in the margarita salt (poured into a shallow plate). Add ice to the shaker and shake well. Pour the contents of the shaker into the highball (including the ice) and add the jalapeno, stirring the drink with the jalapeno.
