My Morning Smoothie

Halfway Homemaker SmoothieI have always struggled with breakfast. Some days I wake up starving, and others, I could care less about food.

All I know is that around mid-morning, I end up being “hangry” and my energy gives out. With two kids to handle, it is important to make sure that I give my body the fuel it needs to perform and not let me down.

This is my favorite start to the day. It is a delicious smoothie that gives me protein and energy to get through the day as well as to stave off my hunger until lunch time. I feel full once I drink it, and am not crashing mid morning.

As an added bonus to the energy and just having breakfast in general – the ingredients have added bonuses. ¬†Chia seeds are recommended to add¬†fiber, protein, calcium, antioxidants, and omega-3s to your diet. Flax seeds are also known for the omega-3s, as well as fiber. Both of these are great for your overall well being, and mixed up in a yummy shake, you don’t even notice them.

My Morning Smoothie:

8 oz juice (cold pressed veggie, Green Machine from Naked Juice are great)
1 medium banana
2 tbs Flax Seed
1 tbs Chia Seed
1 serving protein smoothie mix (EAS Lean 15 is my go-to)
1/4 cup nonfat greek yogurt
3 Ice Cubes

Toss everything in a blender. Blend until smooth. Enjoy!

    1. This is great because you can add whatever you like. This isn’t super sweet, so it is great for a breakfast.
